R.I.P Nick Adenhart

A horrific accident took the life of young Angel Nick Adenhart early this morning. Consider this another reminder of the danger of driving under the influence. I just remind people to think of him as a person, not just a baseball player, and to think of this tragedy in that light. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Adenhart family, his friends, and the entire Angels' organization. There is not much more I can say about this tragic event without digressing into an angry tirade over the irresponsibility of driving drunk. What's important is that a young man with a bright future lost his life today..

  1. What a terrible tragedy. Being a constant worrier, I'm always afraid that one of our kids (e.g. Bills or Kershaw) will suffer a career-threatening injury. You never think that they can be taken away in such a tragic way. Terrible.

  2. Ya I was shocked to hear the news. And it's oh so typical for the drunk driver to make it out alive. And the guy had a history of DUI arrests and was allegedly driving a restricted license

  3. Vinnie brotha you said it right! Being a die hard Angel fan most of my life, like you are a dodger fan, which we know is HUGE, I have to say that this is just a tragedy to society. Forget baseball, like you said, person fisrt, his parents knew him as Nick their son, not Nick the Angel pitcher. Pitching was his job, it shouldn't be his identity. He was a great person, let's look at the nice things he did, and yes the pitching was a bonus. My heart also goes out to all his family and friends as well as Kristen Stewart who passed away, she was a CSUF student and known and loved by many at school, and John Wilhite, former titan ballplayer from 04-08 is in the hospital in critical condition, for he is the lone survivor. Vinnie I went by the site and took pics and I would love to post some for ya. Thanks man, I love the blog, and like i said, this is a mutual respect we have for other teams, baseball players and humans. I am very grateful because I lived right by there, and it could have been me. It still hasnt hit me and since I work Angels radio, maybe I will go to the funeral, I will keep you updated. Thanks for the support brotha!

  5. It's a horrific tragedy. Casey, thanks for the love man. I really do think it's important, like you said, to think of him as a person and not just a player. If I passed, I would like to be thought as something more complex than my occupation, and I think personal interest stories in this case would be nice to hear so we can get an idea of who he was off the diamond.

    John,
I just read that. What a story.. I think I'm going to post a link to it..
